The Characters
A wood elf ranger from DARKWOOD. ATHEJAN fought in the first Battle of the Barrowlands and eighty years later aided KING MATHIAS in recovering the KEY OF DARKWOOD from the DREAMLANDS.
A great “Darkness” that existed in the Monster’s Manual inside HUDNUT’S Library. One Day while searching through his books, HUDNUT stumbled upon BEGEMOT, who captured him and learned from him of the TAPESTRY OF FATE & TIME. Hoping to use the TAPESTRY to escape into the real world and bring darkness to all of Atoll, BEGEMOT began his own search. With the aid of a DEMON LORD, he almost retrieved it from an adventuring party, but was defeated by a heroic Talking Panda. Really. He remains trapped in the literary world.
A dark mage of the ORDER OF THE INCLINED who freed the SHADOWMANCER from his binding. She was devoured by a Wyrm while stealing the Wyrm Egg from the ISLE OF MONSTERS.
An IMP and minion of the demon, BEGEMOT. With IGNAT, BOSHA kidnapped the librarian, HUDNUT, and held him prisoner until they could find the TAPESTRY. Until HUDNUT escaped.
A dark mage of the ORDER OF THE INCLINED. He helped in the liberation of the SHADOWMANCER from his binding, but forgot his place and tried to subjugate the SHADOWMANCER. He was struck down immediately. Though he was revived a short time later, he once again grew impertinent and was once again killed by the SHADOWMANCER. His shade is now under the control of NATASHA.
KING OLDBEARD'S right-hand mechanic. Having discovered the COLOSSUS OF WINDEN deep in the bowels of the IRON MOUNTAINS, DAVID talked the King into letting him rebuild the ancient wonder. Thanks to his efforts, the COLOSSUS entered the second Battle of the Barrowlands in time to defeat the SHADOWMANCER's monstrous Great Wyrm. (Episode #8003: The Colossus of Winden)
His name is lost in time, but this creature stands at nine feet tall, with two foot black horns and cleft hooves. He resides in the Monster’s Manual in HUDNUT’S Library and has power over dead souls, with which he hopes to fashion an army to rule Atoll. Unfortunately, BEGEMOT holds an Amulet that gives him complete control over the DEMON and hinders that ultimate goal. For now.
Uncle of CHIRON THE YOUNGER, this power-hungry Centaur quickly took control of the ISLE OF MONSTERS when his brother, CHIRON THE WISE, died from the bite of a poisonous snake. He quickly locked up CHIRON THE YOUNGER and PRINCESS TWO-LEGS, but was defeated in combat with his nephew and killed.
Three women in various stages of life: youth, middle-age, and old age. They weave the TAPESTRY OF FATE & TIME that controls the lives and events of all Atoll. (Episode #7003: A Real Page Turner)
He’s Father Time. He likes singing. And talking about Time in the first person.
Librarian to the King of WISTONIA who resides in a great LIBRARY TOWER with his daughter PERSHING and his faithful GOLEM. On behest of KING PATRIMUS, he journeys through his own books to find the TAPESTRY OF FATE & TIME and keep it out of the hands of the demon, BEGEMOT.
First Lieutenant of the TERRAVALLE military and right-hand man to PRINCE MATHIAS. He stuck with the King during his exile and lead the search for the Dwarven CHAINS OF BINDING. In the second Battle of the the Barrowlands, he held the Army of Shadow at bay with the BERSERKERS HORN, earning him the title of...Horatio Hornblower.
An IMP and minion of the demon, BEGEMOT. With BOSHA, IGNAT kidnapped the librarian, HUDNUT, and held him prisoner until they could find the TAPESTRY.
A monstrous three-headed vulture and ‘old friend’ of the SHADOWMANCER. The powerful winds created by its beating wings can render enemies immobile.
King of TERRAVALLE, brother to PRINCE CRISPIN, and son of the barbarian KING RAMM and the Elven Lady Ithullia. Growing up loving warfare, MATHIAS was his father's pride and joy, until he tried to wage war on his father's friends, the Dwarves of the IRON MOUNTAINS. For this he was exiled with his friend, HORATIO, and a contingent of soldiers until he could learn better. Upon his father's death, MATHIAS stormed the castle and wrestled the kingship from his brother. Together, they defeated the SHADOWMANCER in the second Battle of the Barrowlands. He now rules happily over TERRAVALLE with his Queen, the former PRINCESS TWO-LEGS.
Ruler of the Dwarves of the IRON MOUNTAINS. He fought alongside KING RAMM in the first Battle of the Barrowlands and then with his sons during the second battle, eighty years later. Though he fell in combat, he soon recovered and continues as King of the Dwarves.
The ruler of WISTONIA. Young KING PATRIMUS enjoyed great popularity amongst him people. When his wife, QUEEN MERBEYLINA, gave birth to their son, SOLIMAIGNE, it was the only worthwhile news for a year. They loved their people and their people loved them. When the Queen and Prince mysteriously took ill and died, the entire Kingdom felt the King’s great loss. PATRIMUS withdrew, seeking his own private council and the people granted him his seclusion. He sent his librarian, HUDNUT, to obtain the TAPESTRY OF FATE & TIME for him so that he could bring his family back.
The barbarian king of Terravalle. In his youth, RAMM organized an army of Humans, Elves, Dwarves and even Centaurs against the army of the SHADOWMANCER, binding his foe to his own life force with the CHAINS OF BINDING. He fell in love with the Elven Lady Ithullia and fathered two children, MATHIAS and CRISPIN. On his 100th birthday, however, he was killed by a spell from sorcerers of the ORDER OF THE INCLINED and the CHAIN OF BINDING was broken. His shade now haunts the DREAMLANDS for eternity, forever remembering the happiest times of his life.
A mad prophet who lives in the BLUE MOUNTAINS of WISTONIA. He can see the future and is disappointed when it comes true everytime. He can tell people’s personal fortunes, but they won’t come true unless he speaks it. Thus, he is a self-fulfilling prophet. KING PATRIMUS forced him to tell what he saw for his wife and son: that they would die. And so, it came to pass. He blames himself for their deaths. (Episode #7002: The Tapestry of Fate)
Advisor to KING PATRIMUS. KRUPKY is in on the secret mission of HUDNUT to retrieve the TAPESTRY and also hires XAN to find him. KRUPKY guides XAN’s party to the prophet, KOTTO, trying hard not to be killed on the way. (Episode #7002: The Tapestry of Fate)
A wandering Knight who searches Atoll for Love atop his Unicorn, Bottom, freeing fair maidens who often reward him with their “Maiden Sauce.” The Knight’s true name is unknown, as he humbly declares himself to be, “Just One Knight of Love!” And he was once turned into a Frog by witches in the MALODOROUS BOG OF STENCH.
Wife of HUDNUT DEWEY. It was she that first noticed HUDNUT was missing one day when she was confronted by his GOLEM as she brought him his afternoon tea. She aided her daughter, PERSHING, and the adventurer, XAN, in their search for HUDNUT.
Daughter of HUDNUT. As a student at University, she was called away to find her missing father, not knowing of his mission for KING PATRIMUS. Thanks to her actions, combined with aid from XAN, she helped free her father from his books and stop BEGEMOT from obtaining the TAPESTRY.
The rather effeminate son of KING RAMM of TERRAVALLE. He chose to study dance, music, and poetry growing up, which greatly chafed his barbarian father. Upon KING RAMM's death, CRISPIN attempted to gain the crown but was defeated by his more aggressive brother, MATHIAS. Together, though, the brothers united to defeat the resurrected SHADOWMANCER at the second Battle of the Barrowlands.
Born Astara, she was the daughter of the SHADOWMANCER and his wife, Elana. When her father was corrupted by the shadows, her mother sent her to CHIRON THE WISE on the ISLE OF MONSTERS to hide Astara from him. Eighty years later, she had become known simply as PRINCESS TWO-LEGS and ruled the CENTAURS as one of them. The SHADOWMANCER kidnapped her, though, and attempted to possess her body in order to regain a human form once more. He was defeated by KING MATHIAS, whom PRINCESS TWO-LEGS subsequently married.
A traveling musician in search all musical knowledge in Atoll. Sometimes, though, his memory fails him and he accosts random adventurers to help him name the tunes he has picked up on his journeys.
Long ago, the SHADOWMANCER was a man named Thain and a master of shadow magic. He married an Elven woman named Elana and they had a child, Astara, who would later become PRINCESS TWO-LEGS. But the SHADOWMANCER was being corrupted by his study of Dark Magic. His flesh melted away until he became a wraith of solid shadow and sought to conquer TERRAVALLE with an army of undead. He was stopped by an alliance of Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Centaurs in the first Battle of the Barrowlands and bound with the Dwarven CHAIN OF BINDING. Eighty years later, three wizards of ORDER OF THE INCLINED, including NATASHA, freed him from the CHAINS. And so began the second Battle of the Barrowlands, which once again ended in his being bound, this time forever.

A mysterious organization led by ELLADONNA located on the ISLE OF WINDEN. Very few souls on Atoll know of their existence. Their main function is to maintain the balance of the world. And one such way it is rumored they do so is by administering the test for "guardianship". The COUNCIL dates back to the FIRST AGE when they chose to remove themselves from the affairs of mortals. What their true powers are and exactly how many are in their number, no one knows. It is believed that they serve the forces of good, for it is the COUNCIL that create GUARDIANS OF THE FLAME. Every so often, adventurers are pulled from where ever they may be to be tested. If they complete the task set before them, they are bestowed with magical powers and sent back into the world to serve the land. That is IF they survive...
A mercenary/hero who resided in WISTONIA, scamming peasants into paying for his protection. He also partook in secret missions for KRUPKY, on behalf of KING PATRIMUS. His final mission took him in search of the TAPESTRY OF FATE & TIME at the LIBRARY TOWER of HUDNUT. Travelling through the many books there, he discovered that he was actually a literary character from a romance novel, a great hero and dashing rogue. HUDNUT took him out of his book and removed his memories. He was killed by a DEMON LORD under the command of BEGEMOT.
